How a Remote EMF Assessment Works

Homeowner holding a meter during a video consultation at a laptop

If you live outside the Calgary area, you may have read the last few posts and thought:

This makes sense. But nobody like this works near me.

You might be right. EMF consulting is an unregulated field, and quality varies widely. Where we know a well-trained local consultant, we will happily refer you.

Where we do not, there is another option.

The idea is simple

You hold the meters. We guide every measurement.

A remote assessment follows the same method as an in-person visit: measure the rooms you use most, trace readings to their sources, and leave you with a prioritized list. The difference is who is holding the instruments.

EMF Aware has supported remote clients across North America and internationally, including homeowners, electricians and practitioners.

How it works

We are currently refining our remote assessment process. Kit contents, shipping and return, pricing, call length, and whether your kit includes dirty electricity measurement can vary while we finalize the details. Ask us for the current specifics.

1. A short intake

You tell us where you live, how the home is laid out, which rooms matter most, and what prompted the question. Photos or a rough floor plan help. We confirm a remote assessment is a good fit before anything ships.

2. A meter kit arrives at your door

The kit holds professional instruments, set up for the measurements your home needs, with simple instructions. You do not need any prior experience.

3. We walk your home together on video

On a scheduled video call, your consultant (Mitch Marchand, B.Sc. EE, or Riun Ashlie) guides you room by room. Where to stand. Where to point the meter. What to switch on and off. What the reading means.

Sleeping areas get the most attention, as always.

4. We trace the sources with you

Because you can switch breakers, unplug devices and move things while we watch the readings live, much of the source-finding works the same way it does on site.

5. Some fixes happen during the call

Turning off a transmitter, changing a device setting, moving a power bar or repositioning a bed can be done and re-measured right away.

6. You get your prioritized plan

Your readings, the sources behind the ones that matter, and a ranked list of what to do first, what can wait, and what to leave alone. Where a fix needs an electrician, we explain what they need to do.

7. The kit goes back

Once you are done, you return the kit.

What remote does well

  • Bedroom and room-by-room measurements, guided in real time
  • Finding the transmitters in your home, including the ones you did not know about
  • Checking devices and settings as you change them
  • Spotting signs of wiring problems that need an electrician’s attention
  • Explaining the numbers, so you understand your home rather than just receiving a report
  • Access to experienced guidance when there is no trusted consultant nearby

Where in-person is better

We would rather tell you this up front:

  • Complex wiring problems are faster to trace with hands on the panel. Remotely, we may need to guide a local electrician through the diagnosis.
  • Some specialized measurements need instruments that are better used by a trained person on site. We will tell you before the kit ships what it covers.
  • Large or unusual properties can take longer to cover by video.
  • If you would rather not handle the meters yourself, an in-person visit is the more comfortable choice.

Remote or in-person?

In-person Remote
Where Calgary and area Anywhere the kit can ship
Who measures Your consultant You, guided live by your consultant
Source tracing Hands-on, including at the panel Guided; complex wiring may need a local electrician
On-the-spot fixes Yes Yes, for settings, devices and placement
What you get Measurements, sources, prioritized plan Measurements, sources, prioritized plan
Best for Complex homes, wiring concerns, hands-off clients Clients outside Calgary, focused room-by-room questions

Only have a few questions?

If you do not need a full assessment, a short video call may be enough. One client described it this way:

“He has an option for a 15 minute call via Zoom, which is perfect if you only have a few questions to ask.” Brianne, Calgary
